COMMENTS ABOUT SOME POEMS

My Very Own Home by Jennifer Meyers.

The poem brings up memories from the past; the author goes to her first years at home and walks throughout past events and situations, from small details till everyday actions. Thus you can read about routines like making the bed, rearranging the bookshelf or opening the photo album. Suddenly, the writer gets back to reality, to her mother’s condition, she is longing for the years she was a free duty girl, and she feels old when she stood in from of the window. Likewise she shows such worry about her brother regarding to his behaviour. All this make her thinks of the future, and then she makes a review on her daily activities. Everyone of us, certainly get inside of ourselves and try to reflect on what our lives have been gone by and we obtain our own result depending on what we have done once we look back and see that human being that never will come back again.

We Left Our Hearts Back In San Francisco by Katie Persons

The poem is similar to the poem written by Jennifer Meyers, “Daddy”. In this sense, Katie Persons talks about her family starting with the separation of her parents. In her case, she, her little sister Cameron and her father moved away from San Francisco “forgetting” to take her mom with them. It seems to refer that the mother rather left them alone. Later her father started to go out with another woman in order to establish a new relationship, however, she complains because her father seems not taking into account their two daughters enough. She shows herself, not only Cameron’s sister, but her mother. So, the author shows a deep necessity of her mother. She defines her home as a broken one, wishing to have the chance to change that.
